Fresh Snow, Wind and Cold at Year’s End on Montana Roads
The year 2018 is going out with a little bit of fresh snow, a lot of wind and some bone-chilling cold temperatures. Monday morning, December 31, the Montana Department of Transportation reported fresh snow on almost all the mountain passes, but the main cause of travel concerns was the wind. Interstate 15 and Interstate 90 at Butte both were being affected by blowing and drifting snow. And, if it's windy in Butte, you can expect it at Bozeman and Livingston as you head east on I-90. Rogers Pass on Montana 200 reported some windy conditions, too. At the south end of the Bitterroot Valley, Lost Trail Pass and Chief Joseph Pass reported snow and ice.
