Flying Over the Cecil D. Andrus-White Clouds Wilderness [PHOTOS]

This area has only been designated as a wilderness since 2015, one of the pristine areas in the state of Idaho. This is located in Custer County and thanks to Backcountry Hunters and Anglers I was able to fly over and take some photos and learn some Idaho history.

This was a chance to learn about an area that has been on my sites for awhile. The Cecil D Andrus-White Clouds Wilderness is located north of Boise. In 2018 it was renamed to honor the late Governor Cecil Andrus, even though Senator Jim Risch fought against it since he was Andrus' foe. We saw Castle Peak and Sheep Mountain, many of the peaks are over 10,000 elevation. It is in the Salmon-Challis National Forest area and to the north of the Hemingway-Boulders Wilderness ( I believe). To the North is the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness and the Middle Fork of the Salmon River.

I am terrified of flying and have severe motion sickness and vertigo so small planes are hard on me. I took a ton of Dramamine beforehand and actually made it the whole flight without getting sick. I think the scenery was so amazing. The wilderness stretches 90,769 acres.

This is one of many areas that needs protected against mines and other interests. Please remember to always pick up after yourself in the woods and protect it at all costs.
