Corrections Officer Fired Over Splash Montana Incident [AUDIO]
37 year-old Michael Gauci was at first suspended from his job as a Missoula County corrections officer over an incident at Splash Montana where he allegedly videotaped two women in the family dressing room. Missoula County Sheriff Carl Ibsen announced Tuesday that Gauci has been terminated from his position.
Police were called to Splash Montana Saturday afternoon at about 2 p m after the husband of one of the women chased Gauci out of the facility. Witnesses say Gauci attempted to erase the recording from his video camera, leading to the charge of felony tampering with evidence.
Deputy Missoula County Attorney Jen Clark said Gauci was charged with felony burglary and felony tampering with evidence. The burglary charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, while the tampering charge could bring an extra 10 years.
Missoula County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jason Johnson said Gauci was suspended from his position after his arrest, and Sheriff Carl Ibsen announced his termination Tuesday afternoon.
