Bitterroot Winter Special Olympics 2023 Event Dates Rescheduled
The Special Olympics Motto: "Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me brave in the attempt."
Due to COVID cancellations, it's a been a long two years for these competitors, not even being able to make the attempt. And while there was a rescheduling of dates for this winter, the show will go on!
Lost Trail Powder Mountain will welcome the 2023 Bitterroot Winter Special Olympics March 7th and 8th. This is a change from the usual January dates for this event.
Volunteers are needed to help make this a rewarding and memorable experience for the competitors. No winter sports skills are required. Just be prepared for a day or more filled with more smiles and good times than you'll get in a year. Bitterroot Winter Special Olympics needs people to help with both setup the day before, along with the actual event dates.
Funding for the event is supported immensely by the annual Hackers Golf Tournament, held at the Hamilton Golf Club every September. All proceeds stay in the Bitterroot and help fund Bitterroot Winter Special Olympics. Money raised helps with equipment purchases and improvements for future competitions. This is the Bitterroot Winter Special Olympics' only fundraiser of the year, and volunteer Carla Christofferson tells us that the 2022 tournament was the most successful yet! So thanks to all you hackers who participated!
While it's still over two months away, organizers are trying hard to start getting a head count on volunteers. If you can help with any or all of the events, please reach out to Carla at either 406-363-3028 or 406-274-8479. Also you could get in touch with Randy at 406-360-1584. And check for more info on the Bitterroot Winter Special Olympics Facebook page.
Welcome back all previous competitors and welcome to all first-timers as well. We know you will all put on special performances.
