As happens with these stories, a Billings woman caught national attention for riding her horse while drunk. Sadly, that wasn't her biggest offense while under the influence. According to a story from the Associated Press and the Billings Gazette, 43-year-old Dawn Ellis-Peterson was stopped by local law enforcement while riding her horse. She was described as extremely intoxicated. Officers checked her out and let her go home. But soon after, she drove off in her truck and fortunately picked up before she could do any damge. She has previous DUI convictions and is also charged with driving without insurance. My money is on the horse as to being the smarter of the two.
