A freshman at Billings Central who was invited to the White House Science Fair in October is headed back to Washington, D.C., to sit in the first lady's box during the State of the Union address on Tuesday.
Mikayla Nelson tells The Billings Gazette she was speechless when she received a call last week from a White House representatives and is honored by the invitation.
Nelson first caught the attention of the White House when she and her team from Will James Middle School competed last April at the National Science Bowl. Their mini-electric race car won the top design award and earned an invitation to the White House Science Fair.
Nelson says she met President Barack Obama and briefly talked with him about the car. She says she kept her poise.
