Would You Go To a Montana Bar That Was 35 and Older?
Well, if you're under 35 the answer is probably, "No." But it does make you wonder if it would succeed. And we probably don't have the population it would require to sustain it, but there is a watering hole in St. Louis called the Zodiac Lounge where the sign on the door asks that customers be at least 35. The manager (age 70) says he posted the sign because he wanted to maintain the integrity of the place. And yes, most patrons are in that, shall we say, upper end demographic. But the bar boasts that there is very little trouble compared to establishments with a normal drinking age requirement. One patron told Associated Press, "We don't need a metal detector." :-) Missoula is famous for lots of ambitious bar and eatery business start-ups...maybe someone should give this a shot. DB
