What a Tragic Waste of Good German Beer

Oh, bottle cap promotion, what evil have you brought into this world? Enough to destroy 50 cases of beer! At least we assume as much, unless some folks got to drink the rather flat evidence.

This happened near Berlin, Germany. One or more beer hooligans broke into a convenience store and removed the caps from about 1,200 bottles of beer. Nope, not modern-day Prohibitionists. The were looking for "winners" in a Koenig Pilsner contest, where you can redeem caps for stereo speakers, cordless drills, etc.

Investigators found lots of "good luck, try again" caps laying around. Given the volume of bottle caps, they suspect that more than one cap crook conducting the caper.   DB
