If you were whiny about how cold you felt on Wednesday morning it wasn't your imagination, Missoula and Kalispell hit new record low temperatures that day. Tuesday morning wasn't much fun either, like me, it was probably the first day this season that you had to scrape your windshield. Turns out that a Griz Card really does have a purpose!

According to one of Missoula's all-time favorite meteorologists, Erin Yost, Missoula reached a new record low for October 13th, which was Wednesday morning this week. She says Missoula "bottomed out" at 19 degrees, breaking the previous record low of 21 degrees set in 1969 and 1978. Thus the window scraping, crunchy grass, and need for socks and an actual jacket.

Kalispell also hit a new record for October 13th, with a low temp of 13, breaking the previous record of 16, set in 2002. Comments on Erin's post ranged from disappointment in lost flowers to locals laughing about the possible thinning out of "newbies" after experiencing the icy temps. It happens every year, but I think it was particularly harsh this year since it was just a few weeks ago that we were experiencing record high temperatures in Missoula.

We always joke that "God loves the Griz" as no matter what the week of weather does, the sun always seems to come out for home football games. This weekend shows more proof of that with clouds and daily highs in the 40s and 50s for Thursday and Friday, but then on Saturday game day, you can look forward to sunshine and a high of 70. So don't put those shorts and slides away yet!
