We’re Number One? Montana Is Leading The Nation In This Industry
Many people have been moving to Montana for work, and it turns out, a lot of them are in the construction industry. With all of the growth that Montana has experienced in recent years, the construction industry is booming in the state.
According to a new report from the Montana Contractors Association, between February 2020 and January 2022, Montana added nearly 4,000 construction jobs. The state saw an 11.4% increase in the number of construction workers in the state during the COVID-19 pandemic. The new data suggests that Montana is leading the country in new construction jobs.
The press release states that almost half of the states in America lost construction jobs during the same time period, but Montana's employment levels have remained strong and continued to grow.
I think the message is clear – construction is open for business and we’re hiring. While most industries have struggled through these difficult times, construction continues to provide stable employment with wages that offer higher pay, great benefits, and the opportunity to grow your career. Construction was deemed an essential industry, and Montana contractors worked hard keeping worksites open. While many industries and businesses had to close their doors temporarily, construction in Montana was able to take advantage of the opportunity that allowed us to keep workers employed.
said MCA Executive Director David Smith
Supply chain shortages have had a drastic impact and the construction industry in Montana and nationwide. Contractors are dealing with materials shortages and huge increases in the cost of materials.
