Half-a-million dollars isn't exactly one small step for man, and that's what it will cost to help preserve some U.S. history. The National Air and Space Museum is launching a campaign to conserve the spacesuit that was worn by Neil Armstrong on the moon.

The campaign was started Monday, on the 46th anniversary of Armstrong's first moonwalk in 1969. The spacesuit is deteriorating and hasn't been on display since 2006. And while it was made to withstand the rigors of space travel, it wasn't made to last for decades.

I told them to stop bringing it out and taking turns wearing it at Smithsonian office parties! Anyway, those are the folks to contact if you'd like to help out. They'd love to have it looking good for the 50th anniversary of the moonwalk in 2019.    DB
