More Memorable Activities During Travelers’ Rest 25th Anniversary
Travelers’ Rest State Park, located near Lolo, is celebrating 25 years of preserving and promoting a unique cultural and historical site as a state park.
I had a chance to visit the park earlier this summer during their exhibition of over 50 prints of grizzly bear art, “Ursus Horribilis: The Grizzly Bear Illustrated.” The display featured vintage grizzly bear prints by noted artists which illuminated the complex history of grizzly bears, humans and habitat.
Some of the artwork really made you feel like you were watching some of what was transpiring all those years ago. Congratulations to Travelers' Rest for a job well done on that exhibit!
25 EVENTS FOR 25 YEARS
To celebrate this historic anniversary, Travelers' Rest State Park continues to create memorable events, including hands-on activities, live music, trivia and more for the members of your "Corps of Discovery." With the theme of "25 Events for 25 Years," to mark the occasion, the park is continuing its series of 25 public events, including more this week.
This Sunday, August 23 from 3:00 - 4:30 pm, visit Travelers’ Rest for a free concert along Lolo Creek. Enjoy a live performance by The Queens and Mr. G alongside Lolo Creek. Bring something to sit on, bug spray, and your favorite beverage (no glass containers, please).
Then on Thursday, August 27, join state parks staff for a trivia event hosted at Lolo Creek Distillery. This month’s theme is “Are you a bird brain or a wise old owl?” The game begins at 6 p.m. and includes free prizes.
