I don't think I want to know the number of hours I sank into playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 when I was a kid - but I can tell you that songs like "Superman" by Goldfinger, "Guerilla Radio" by Rage Against the Machine, and "Five Lessons Learned" by Swingin' Utters are all permanently etched into my DNA as a result of that game series.

If you're someone like me who has spent a ridiculous amount of time searching for secret tapes and trying to spell the word S-K-A-T-E, then you're probably a fan of Tony Hawk. The guy was the biggest thing in the world when I was a kid - I mean, he even had a cameo on Rocket Power. That's how you know you've made it.

Tony Hawk is still out there doing his thing - there was a terrific, well-received remake of the first two Pro Skater video games back in 2020, he recently made an appearance at the Oscars introducing a tribute to James Bond, he occasionally goes viral on Twitter for all kinds of stories about people who sort-of-recognize him, and there's actually a new documentary out called Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off, which just premiered on HBO.

And today, Tony Hawk appeared in Billings as the keynote speaker at the Chamber Breakfast, which took place at MetraPark. That comes from Montana Right Now, who also have a great interview with Tony Hawk to go along with it.

In the interview, Tony Hawk speaks to young people looking to get into skating - or any of their passions - and tells them to learn every aspect about whatever they're doing, even the boring stuff. He also talks his recent skating injury - Tony Hawk, at age 54, just broke his leg skateboarding, and is still going to get back out there. What a legend.
