The longest-tenured furry feline at the shelter is a much different guy in the comfort of a home. Like yours.

It was another Take Me Home Tuesday at the radio stations with the Humane Society of Western Montana, sponsored by Paul's Pancake Parlor in Missoula. Janet from the shelter wanted us to meet Ivan!

Ivan is an adorable 9-year-old cat who is currently the longest-stay shelter pet.  Fortunately, he hasn't spent that entire time IN the shelter. Ivan is currently living in a foster home that reports he's a "gentle guy who is happiest when with his people."

Janet tells us that Ivan was hiding and shut down at the shelter, but a kind foster family gave him the chance to show his true personality. Ivan will need an adopter who is willing to give him the time he needs to settle in during the transition to a new home, and in return they will get a snuggly and affectionate new friend who is great with other cats and dogs.

The shelter is looking to place Ivan directly from his foster home so he doesn't have a stressful return to the shelter. If you are interested in this bashful boy, contact the shelter to set up a visit with Ivan.

CASPER HAS A SIMILAR STORY

Meet Casper, a sensitive 18-month-old dog who is friendly, active and independent. Casper can be wary around strangers and new situations at first, but when he warms up he shows that he's truly an endearing dog who is eager to make new friends.

Casper also has pretty intense allergies, and will need to be on a special diet and daily medication that has helped his itching tremendously. He is lucky enough to be staying with a foster family to relax and recuperate, so you'll need to make an appointment to meet him. If you're looking for a loyal new companion, call or email the shelter to arrange a meeting with this outstanding young pup.

All contact info regarding both Ivan and Casper can be found here.
