NBC Montana reports that multiple school districts are closed in northwest Montana for Thursday morning because of threats to schools.

All schools in Columbia Falls, Kalispell, Whitefish, Evergreen, West Valley, and Bigfork are closed.

Steve Bradshaw, the superintendent of Columbia Falls schools, would not elaborate on what those threats were but he told NBC Montana Wednesday night that his main concern is the safety of students and staff, so he has canceled all classes for Thursday.

Flathead County Superintendent of Schools Jack Eggensperger said the threat was only made to Columbia Falls schools and other schools were only closing as a precaution. He reiterates no direct threats were made to Kalispell, Whitefish, Evergreen, West Valley, or Bigfork schools.

Bradshaw said that the threats are being investigated by the Columbia Falls police and the Flathead County Sheriff's Office.
