Thompson Square Are Expecting a Baby
Thompson Square may need to trade in their Trans Am for a minivan, or at least something with a more sensible backseat. The married duo of Shawna and Keifer Thompson are expecting a baby in January.
T2 made the announcement on Twitter Tuesday afternoon, saying “Well … we have decided not to be a duo anymore!”
“We’ve been together for a long time and we’ve done a lot of things and we just really felt there was something missing," Keifer Thompson tells People. "We love what we do, we love the music business, but we didn’t want to deprive ourselves of having a family.”
Names, a whole new bus and cravings (cantaloupe and pickles, anyone?) are things they worry about now. Keifer says he's letting his wife choose baby's name, but he has a few ideas.
"Maybe we should go with something really weird and random," he says. "Toothpaste Thompson. That is a great alliteration — and we are songwriters, you know.”
The “Trans Am” singers have been married since 1999, but worked as solo artist for years before deciding to form a duo. Their first single on Stoney Creek Records was the playful hit “Let’s Fight,” but they quickly followed that up with “Are You Gonna Kiss More or Not” in 2010. That song became one of the most-played songs of the decade, reaching No. 1 in April 2011.
It’d be 14 years between the time they met and scored a record deal. Shawna Thompson is 37 years old, while Keifer Thompson is 41.
