There's certain things in life that just develop an unexplained cult following over time. It seems like the McRib from McDonald's is one of those things. Why do people love it so? Even if you're a fan - you can't really make the argument that it's the highest quality sandwich out there. Maybe it's just the fact that McDonald's only serves it for limited periods of time before taking it away again. It's true with anything - we always want what we can't have. So I guess some credit goes to Mickey D's for creating the craving that only they can fulfill when they bring their saucy sandwich back into play.

(Haha. How great is that meme above? And how much love is Dan Duvall going to get for having McDonald's use his post on their social media page today? That's a win for him!)

I can't say I've paid much attention to the previous returns of the McRib. But I guess they haven't made it available at every location during the previous releases. We last saw the sandwich during a limited run in October of last year - but it hasn't been released nationwide since 2012. So rejoice McRib fans, all of the almost 14,000 McDonalds in the US will be serving up the seasoned boneless pork, barbecue sauce, onions and pickles on a hoagie-style bun (for a limited time.)

I don't think I've had a McRib in at least five years. I've probably had less than three in my life. And I normally wouldn't think twice about needing to have one this year. But I'll admit, looking at all the pictures and reading through all the details of this year's release has me kind of craving one right now. Dang it, McDonalds! Your wizarding ways have worked again!
