The Crown Vics Last Day

Today the last Crown Victoria rolled off the Ford Motor Co. assembly line at St. Thomas, Ont...  Last revived by Ford in 1980, the Crown Vic has been unavailable to consumers since 2008. But sales to police departments have remained strong; in the U.S., Crown Vics hold 70 per cent of the patrol car market. A Crown Vic costs about $22,000 to $25,000 U.S. before equipment and graphics are added, which can bring the price to near $40,000.

The Missoula County Sheriffs’ Office and the Missoula City Police Department did have a few of the Crown Vics in service but I believe they’ve phased them all out. Officers I know appreciated the room in the bigger cars but as pursuit vehicles the Ford left much to be desired when compared with the Dodge Chargers and Chevrolet Caprices.
