Telemarketers Are The Fastest Declining Job in Montana
Apparently, over the last ten years, telemarketer jobs in Montana have declined by 94%. So why am I still getting so many annoying phone calls?
Probably thanks to robocalls, or just less people doing more work. A new study from Commercial Cafe discovered the most quickly declining jobs in every state in the US. For Montana, that was telemarketers, with 1110 employees in 2009 dwindling down to just 90 in 2018.
In most states, industrial jobs are the ones that are declining the fastest, but Montana joins states like Kansas, Wyoming, and North Carolina in the business sector.
I suppose it isn't really a surprise that, with everything being automated now, telemarketers aren't as big as they used to be. Still, if you ever get one of those annoying calls and it turns out to be an actual person on the other end of the line, take a moment to reflect on how rare that is before you hang up while they're mid-sentence.
