One of the few subjects I was actually good at in grade school was spelling. In fact, I think I won a rosary or two during spelling bees. So I love to hear about some kids who obviously could have whooped me good. The 45th annual U-T San Diego Countywide Spelling Bee was down to a tense, two-student final round when the bee master realized he was going to run out of words. He says in his 33 years of being involved in the competition, a 500-word supply has always been plenty, but these kids were on fire! So he called a recess and scrounged up some more words. Congratulations to Allison Grygar, who correctly spelled "prostrate" and "gurgle" after her opponent stumbled on "scrimmage." Did I mispell anything here? DB
