Here's a serving suggestion for a Labor Day weekend day trip packed with breathtaking scenery. Just south of Hamilton or just south of Philipsburg, depending on which side you're on, Montana Road 38 (the Skalkaho Road) from milepost 17 to 21 is now open. The slide repair has been completed, so you can expect normal driving conditions. If you can call that road normal. It can be a little unsettling when you're driving the eastbound downhill side, but the views are absolutely amazing. And even with normal driving conditions, you'll still need to watch for equipment parked along the road. So, slow and steady and enjoy the ride.  DB
