This week we surprised our oldest son and took him and his brothers to Silverwood. I had not been there in probably 10 years. I have to say it was just as much fun as I remember, if not more.

Silverwood is a theme park that has four roller-coasters and many more carnival rides. It also has tons of carnival games, food and candy. They recently added a huge water park too. We, however, did not make it to the water park, as the weather was a little chilly. I have heard from friends that the water park is amazing. If all this isn’t enough, they also feature numerous old-time shops, and a train ride complete with a robbing and shoot out.

I loved the rides. Riding on bumper cars with your kids, watching the roller-coasters from the top of the Ferris wheel and shoveling handfuls of cotton candy in your mouth are just a few things about Silverwood that make you feel like a kid yourself. I have to say, probably the best part of the whole trip is watching your kids have fun. As a parent there is nothing that makes you happier than seeing your child happy.

So, I have to say that the five hour car ride, the carnival food, the drive thru food and the complete chaos of the day was all worth it. In the end, is there nothing you won’t do to give your kids a little bit of joy?
