The air in the Missoula Valley looks awful. Just how bad does it look? A friend, Patty Hixson, walked to the top of Mt Sentinel Thursday and snapped a picture. I checked with the Health Department and here’s what they had to say; “As of 2 PM Thursday, air quality in the Missoula Valley is Unhealthy. We are seeing an influx of smoke from the Bitterroot Valley make its way into the Missoula area and conditions have deteriorated rapidly.  There is a distinct smoky smell in the air and individuals may be experiencing some stinging eyes and headaches from the volatile chemicals in the smoke.  This smoke is likely to stick around for the immediate future.  Conditions deteriorate as you go south into the Bitterroot Valley. The Hamilton area saw a lot of smoke overnight and the cumulative exposure is still Very Unhealthy.”
