Run Wild Missoula Holding Tony Banovich Memorial Run
Townsquare Media is proud to be a partner with the annual Missoula Marathon. And it was that partnership that gave us the chance to work closely with Race Director for the marathon and Executive Director of Run Wild Missoula, Tony Banovich. It was shocking news to learn of Tony's passing last month - he was a great friend, partner, and advocate for Missoula and the running community.
An upcoming event couldn't be more of a fitting tribute. The Tony Banovich Roads, Tracks, and Trails Memorial Run will not only honor Tony, but it will help do what Tony always sought to do - benefit Run Wild Missoula.
Information from the press release describes the details of the event:
This event challenges participants to run or walk 4.35 miles – the average daily distance of Banovich’s 1,731 day run streak – while raising funds for Run Wild Missoula, an organization that held a special place in Banovich’s heart.
Registration for The Tony Banovich Roads, Tracks, and Trails Memorial Run will be open from 11/12-12/11, and participants will have until 12/31 to complete the event. Registrants will receive a commemorative pin, donated by Ashworth Awards, embossed with Banovich’s signature email send-off – “See you on the roads, tracks, and trails.”
It'll be different to not have Tony leading the charge for the Missoula Marathon this year. But you can bet we'll all be thinking about him when marathon time rolls around. This seems like a perfect way to honor his love of running and his dedication to Missoula's running community.

What is the deadline to register?
Registration closes on 12/11 but participants have until midnight on 12/31/2020 to complete their event.
How do I run a virtual race? How should I track my race and upload results?
You can run or walk your virtual race anywhere you choose! It could be in your neighborhood, on a treadmill, or anywhere that is safe and compliant with the COVID-19 protocols in your area.
Do I have to run my virtual race on a certain race date? Is there a time limit for the virtual race?
You can run your race anytime from November 11 - December 31. There is no time limit to complete this event.
Can I complete my race distance on a treadmill?
Yes!
Will there be overall or age group awards?
No, this is a memorial event to honor a friend and icon of the running industry. Let’s let Tony win all of the awards for this one.
Do I have to upload my results in order to participate and/or receive my swag?
All registered participants will receive their commemorative pin and t-shirt (if ordered at registration) regardless of whether or not you upload your results.
When will swag be mailed?
We will start sending out swag around December 15, so expect to receive your pin and t-shirt (if ordered at registration) before the end of the year.
