Renowned Montana Singer Doing Free Show at a Montana State Park

Western music with its roots decidedly in Montana, anyone?

If you're looking to put a little road trip on an upcoming weekend agenda and enjoy the music of an iconic Montana country/folk/bluegrass/add-your-own-genre-here performer, we recommend a delightful journey to a beautiful state park for an evening of entertainment.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

For decades, the name Rob Quist has been synonymous with the spirit of Montana, putting his own spin on blends of music deeply rooted in American tradition, as a solo artist and member of the famed Mission Mountain Wood Band. He even dabbled in state politics, capturing the Democratic nomination for the May, 2017, special election to fill what was still then the state's only congressional seat.

Rob will be performing live at free concert at Missouri Headwaters State Park on Saturday, June 8, starting at 7:00 p.m. This is the first of the park's summer series for 2024, featuring musicians, historians and other guests for events celebrating Montana.

The park is about 5 miles north of Three Forks on Trident Road.

SHOW IS FREE - PARKING MAY NOT BE

Now, just so there is no confusion, the concert is free. And as far as the park itself goes, there is no cost to Montana residents to enter state parks. An $8 entrance fee applies at Montana state parks for all nonresident vehicles.

No doubt many of you are familiar with Missouri Headwaters State Park. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks  tells us that it provides an opportunity to "camp where Lewis and Clark stayed in 1805. This park encompasses the confluence of the Jefferson, Madison and Gallatin Rivers."

The park provides campsites, tipi rentals, foot trails to points of interest, and interpretive displays of the area's cultural and natural history. River floating, fishing, picnicking, bicycling, hiking, interpretive programs, and photography are popular activities.

Concert goers are encouraged to bring their own chair and bug spray. S’mores will be served afterward.
