It's always a bit of a bummer when a longtime business closes its doors.  But there is also the excitement of wondering what new establishment will take its place in the future.

With the Perkins restaurant on North Reserve closing and the plans for the property yet to be announced - that is exactly the situation at hand.

When I moved to town a little less than a year ago I stopped in Nebraska on my cross-country drive and my uncle and I went to a Perkins for breakfast.  It was the first time I had been to a Perkins.  Every time I drove by the restaurant here in town I would always think, "I need to grab a bite there sometime."  Looks like I waited too long.

Perkins closed for good on Thursday after 22 years.  The current owners sold the building to new owners and their plans remain a mystery.  A new brewery, tap house or restaurant seem to be the frontrunners when it comes to ideas for the building.

What would you like to see occupy the space?  Anything on the top of your wish list?  I guess we'll all find out in due time.
