Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - One person is reported dead after a small private plane crashed into the Flathead River near the Perma Bridge on Sunday Morning.

According to the Sanders County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, the crash was reported at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Sunday.

An investigation into the crash determined that the plane struck some power lines causing the crash into the river.

The Plains – Paradise Rural Fire District’s rescue team removed the sole occupant of the downed aircraft, as well as one individual who swam out to the site to help rescue the pilot.

The pilot was reportedly flown to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, where the pilot was pronounced deceased.

The National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating the crash.
