Nobody Came to Little Boy’s Birthday Party

Now, that is one sad headline, I know. But spoiler alert: it does get better. We wouldn't leave you hanging with a tear-jerker like that, would we?

Our story about sad little nine-year-old Gerald Hamilton comes to us from Associated Press in Lake Station, Indiana. Gerald was pretty bummed out when none of his second-grade classmates showed up for his birthday party. Well...Grandma and social media to the rescue!

His grandmother took to Facebook asking people to send him birthday cards. Gerald got over 1,000 of them! And while Grandma Amelia Lara didn't ask for them, he has also received some gifts, including tickets to an Indiana Pacers NBA basketball game. Now there's some added incentive for the Pacers to stay alive in the playoffs!

Gerald's grandmother was quoted as saying that there good, kind, compassionate people out there. Happy Birthday, Gerald. And we hope it is a life lesson that will serve you well as you grow up!   DB
