
Montana Man Found Guilty of Seven Criminal Counts of Poaching
These types of hideous wildlife crimes are much more enjoyable to post when there has been an actual verdict.
It took some time to draw this to a conclusion, and we don't know yet what the punishment will be. But we do know that most Montana hunters pull for a sentencing to the full extent of the law.
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks game wardens tell us that that Cody H. Carr, 30, of Kalispell, Montana, was found guilty at trial in Flathead County Justice Court for seven criminal counts related to poaching crimes committed in November of 2023. He was convicted of two counts of unlawful possession of wildlife, two counts of hunting or killing an over-limit of game animals, two counts of waste of game animals, and a single count of loan or transfer of a license.
The investigation was conducted by Kalispell area Game Warden Nate Muhn. The case proved that Mr. Carr illegally killed three whitetail deer in the North Fork of the Flathead in Hunting District 110, and it was these crimes that led to the seven criminal counts.
Montana FWP Assistant Chief of Law Enforcement J.D. Douglas was quoted as saying, “This is a testament to the dedication and tenacity of Montana game wardens and the work that goes into these complex, long-term investigations."
Douglas also praised the Flathead County Attorney Office for their efforts in the case. sentencing hearing for this case is pending.
A sentencing hearing is pending.
