Another stellar performance by a Montana Grizzly football standout has resulted in a second consecutive Player of the Week honor.

After just his second start as a Griz, junior linebacker Dante Olson has been named Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his amazing performance Saturday afternoon. If that weren't enough, he also earned STATS FCS National Player of the Week honors!

Olson recorded 16 tackles (seven solo), three-and-a-half tackles for loss, a forced fumble, a pass breakup and two sacks, as Montana poured it on in the second half on their way to a 48-16 win over Drake. Dante is currently the leading tackler in the Big Sky Conference. His achievements Saturday were also recognized by the college sports publication College Sports Madness.

The competition definitely heats up this coming Saturday, September 15, as the Griz go on the road for the first time this season to take on Western Illinois. Scott Gurnsey and I will be on the air with the Tailgate Show pregame at noon mountain time. The voice of the Griz Riley Corcoran will bring you all the play by play starting at 2:00 in Missoula on the flagship radio station, KGVO and in Hamilton on KLYQ, as well as live on line on both station's websites Listen Live players.

See you then, Griz Nation.
