National signing day for college football is Wednesday, February 6th, and many sports pundits are saying the Montana Grizzlies will have a very good recruiting class.

Brint Wahlberg is a local realtor, but his passion is Grizzly football. Wahlberg is a regular contributor to egriz dot com, the fan site for Grizzly sports. Wahlberg has been watching the recruiting class very closely and says, if all goes well, the Griz will be gaining some excellent skill players.

One of the recruits that has verbally committed to Montana is Treshawn Favors, a running back from Glendale, Arizona with explosive speed. Connor Stram is the Oregon high school player of the year has made a verbal commitment, as well.

These are just two examples of the quality recruits that Grizzly coaches have been pursuing in the off-season. University of Montana officials are prohibited by the NCAA from talking about any of the recruits until the official signing day.

With only one defensive starter lost to graduation last season, the 5-6 Grizzlies look to rebound from a disappointing season. Two running backs, Peter Nguyen and Dan Moore were graduated, as well.  The season was complicated by sexual assault accusations, as well as investigations of the athletic programs by federal agencies and the NCAA. None of those investigations has yet been concluded at the time this story was published. 2012 was the first losing season for the Grizzlies in nearly 30 years.

Notices have been sent out to all season ticket holders, and officials expect over 19,000 to be sold.

Spring practices will begin in early March, with the first game against perennial power Appalachian State at home on August 31.
