News that the Big Sky Conference has officially canceled the fall football season hit the Missoula and western Montana business community hard, in that the economic impact is normally in the millions of dollars per home game.
According to a press release from the NCAA, ‘The divisions must determine by Aug. 21 whether their respective fall sports seasons and NCAA championships should occur this year. All three divisions must follow their governance processes in making decisions.’
At the FCS Awards banquet in Frisco, Texas on Friday night, University of Montana linebacker Dante Olson was named the Buck Buchanan Award winner as the top defensive player in the nation.
Despite the bitter end to the regular season, a 6-5 record and their cross-state rival heading into the FCS Playoffs, the Montana Grizzlies still have much to be proud of.
