When's the last time you had a bowl of cereal for breakfast, or any time of day, for that matter? It's been a minute, but golly, I love cereal. My hottest cereal take is that cereal is better without milk.

That's right. I would rather eat Cookie Crisp, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, or Cap'n Crunch by the dry handfuls. Milk makes it soggy, and I don't need soggy cereal.

As I'm typing this story out, I just put down "CEREAL" on my shopping list.

Montana's Favorite Cereal is Rice Krispies

Concordia-St. Paul in Minnesota conducted a study using Google Trends data to determine every state's favorite cereal.

"To explore how tastes vary by location, we analyzed Google Trends data to identify the most‑searched‑for cereal in every U.S. state and Washington, D.C., between January 2025 and January 2026. The results offer a look at national habits, while opening the door to a broader conversation about nutrition and everyday health choices." - CSP

Montana's most searched cereal was Rice Krispies.

...

Really?

Maybe I'm an outlier here, but who has had Rice Krispies recently? That feels like a throwback and in my humble opinion there are several better cereals than Rice Krispies.

  • Cinnamon Toast Crunch
  • Cap'n Crunch
  • Lucky Charms
  • Cocoa Pebbles
  • Fruit Loops
  • Cookie Crisp
  • Honey Nut Cheerios
  • Trix
  • Fruity Pebbles
  • Golden Grahams
  • Reeses Puffs
  • Honeycomb

I came up with 12 cereals better than Rice Krispies off the top of the dome, just like that.

Four other states (Idaho, Utah, South Dakota, and Wisconsin) searched for Rice Krispies the most, however.

Fruit Loops was the most-searched cereal across the states, finishing first in 13 states.
