It's difficult to keep up with all the restaurants opening and closing. Missoula has lost Conflux Brewing, Pangea, Stave & Hoop, Imagine Nation Brewing and the Liquid Planet on Brooks have all shut down, or are in the process of shutting down, recently.

I'm probably missing a few in there, too.

There have been some recent additions, however. Don't forget M-80, Calypso Sandwich Shop and now Sumac Cafe.

Sumac Cafe's Menu

"Fresh fluffy pita, regular & gluten-free crepes, shakshuka, za'atar pretzel buns and our very own "The Koulishi Labas" served all morning." - Sumac Missoula Instagram

I'll be frank with everybody. I don't know what any of those foods are, except for pita and crepes. The rest I've never heard of, but after seeing a few images on their social media pages, I'm in and will be checking out Sumac.

Sumac foresaw the issue of people like me reading their menu and having no idea what any of it means, so they put together a glossary.

Shakshukah: "A dish of braised eggs in a spiced sauce of tomatoes, peppers, and onions."

Za'atar Bread: "Flatbread topped with za'atar spice blend, garlic, and olive oil."

The full glossary can be found here.
