The talk of real estate in Missoula has been a hot topic for a while now. It seems that the property values continue to climb to astronomical heights. Even as the pandemic continues to waver, the number of people looking to move to Missoula continues to grow. In simple "supply and demand" economics, the prices will continue to go up if people are willing to pay. So I asked myself, "What is the most expensive home on the market in Missoula right now?" How about possibly buying this Missoula century-old mansion and former sorority?

That's right! The former home of John R Toole, an industrialist, and Marcus Daly's "right-hand man." The home has been around since 1915 and is rumored to be one of the University District homes that is connected to the UM's underground tunnel system. It served as the Toole family's home until 1931 when Toole's wife sold the house to the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, making Kappa Kappa Gamma the first sorority in Missoula to have their own house.

How big is the place?

Well, the former sorority needed to house dozens of young women, so they needed a bunch of rooms. 13 rooms to be exact. And all those students can't possibly function sharing one bathroom, so the mansion offers 7 bathrooms, not to mention a commercial kitchen, a ballroom, and a separate apartment.

With nearly 14,000 square feet of space, and located right next to Hellgate High School, the most expensive place currently listed in Missoula has an asking price of $2.75 million. Not too bad if you think about it. But, the listing does mention some much-needed upkeep and repairs on the old home. What would you expect from a sorority that has lived in the place for 90 years?
