The Missoula County Attorney’s Office charged 21 new felony complaints this week. County Attorney Kirsten Pabst appears on KGVO's Talk Back show every Friday morning to provide her report and she said the weekly number of cases has increased four weeks in a row.

“Four involved interpersonal violence, including a strangulation and a burglary case,” Pabst said. “Five of them were violent crimes, including a vehicular homicide while under the influence. In that case, the defendant was seen driving very fast through the intersection of Broadway and Orange. He then got in a lengthy high-speed chase through downtown. He allegedly wrecked the vehicle and fled on foot, leaving his 17-year-old passenger in the car severely injured. The youngster eventually succumbed to his injuries, tragically.”

That defendant was charged with a whole bunch of crimes including leaving the scene, criminal mischief, assault, and the vehicular homicide.

“We also charged two assault with a weapon cases involving drivers assaulting other drivers,” Pabst said. “We charged a robbery, two sex cases, and one cruelty to animals case. In the endangerment category, we charged another criminal endangerment involving a high-speed chase and a felony DUI, which is a fourth or subsequent offense. There were four new property crimes, a burglary, a criminal mischief, and two thefts.”

Pabst said both of those cases involved allegations of theft of a car. In the drug category, they charged three new cases and all of them involved fentanyl. You can listen to Pabst's full report below.
