At around 11:45 Wednesday night, Missoula police responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 2500 block of Spurgeon Road. The complainant was also in the residence and heard disturbing sounds coming from the upper level of the residence. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

“When the officers arrived, they made contact with the complaint and also found a male party involved who was attempting to leave in a vehicle,” Welsh said. “That male was temporarily detained and was identified as 30-year-old Cody Pflaum. The officers made contact with an adult female inside the residence who displayed evidence of injury and described to the officers that her injuries were the result of the conflict with Mr. Pflaum.”

According to Welsh, the female victim told officers that she is in an intimate relationship with Pflaum.

“At the time of the disturbance, the adult female was holding an infant child and was also holding the child when Mr. Pflaum pointed a firearm at her,” Welsh said. “Mr. Pfluam has been arrested and was transported to the Missoula County Detention Center where he is awaiting arraignment on charges that include strangulation of a partner or family member, assault with a weapon, and assault on a minor.”

Initially, the victim declined medical attention. However, after speaking to an officer and learning about the potential damage to soft tissue, she did agree to be examined by EMS and later agreed to go to the hospital for further examination.
