Missoula’s Andrew Bedard Legion Post has Gifts for Kids Sunday

Santa will be waiting. And a break from the madness of shopping on the final Sunday before Christmas might feel nice.

First, on a personal note, my sincerest gratitude to Missoula's American Legion for the naming of U.S. Marine L CPL Andrew Bedard Post 68 in my son's honor. He would be a bit embarrassed and think someone else was more deserving, but that was just the kind of humble kid he was. And he was true to core loyalty values that the American Legion upholds.

Kirsten Weimer, American Legion Auxiliary President of Post 68, wants to invite you to the Orchard Homes Country Life Club, 2537 South 3rd Street West, this Sunday, December 19, from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. Children of all ages can visit with Santa and receive a free present. Any child in need or not is welcome. And no, you do not have to be an American Legion Member. 

Their mission statement in part reads, "The American Legion is built on a promise from men and women who swore with their lives to defend and protect the United States through military service. The promise begins at enlistment, grows through training and discipline in the U.S. Armed Forces and continues after discharge, as veterans in service to community, state and nation.

In times of crisis, The American Legion steps into the turmoil and fights to provide needed assistance for others.

Young people who seek positive opportunities turn to The American Legion, which has mentored generations into responsible citizens.

Veterans in need of advocates to help them achieve meaningful careers, educations, health-care services, friends and stable homes are supported every day, free of charge, by The American Legion."

We salute this organization and hope you and the kiddos can drop by the Orchard Homes Country Life Club this Sunday.
