Looking at the Stars Over Hawaii
With all there is to enjoy in Hawaii, I'm not sure astronomy would be at the top of anyone's activities list. But it's big business on the Big Island. I have had the wonderful fortune of traveling to Hawaii four times in my life. And while the island of Hawaii itself has been missed so far, I would put a stargazing tour on the list in a heartbeat, if I ever get the chance to go again.
The island of Hawaii took in over $91 million in 2012 from direct and indirect effects of the astronomy industry. And all the islands combined raked in $168 million. And bigger and better observatory facilities are being funded to enhance the experiences even more.
So there you go, romantic stargazers. Put it on your to-do list.
