Lolo Creek Fire Lessons
Everybody who lives here in Western Montana has heard the phrase “urban interface”. It’s where the houses meet the forest. There’s a lot of that around here and not just on the fringes of Missoula. That’s where I live. We’ve all heard from the Missoula County Fire Protection Association about creating “safe zones." We witnessed some urban interface problems this summer up Lolo Creek.
Now experts are working on information to help people like you and I to determine how intense a wildfire might be in our neighborhood. Let’s hope it will get some attention and help us make things safer to live where we do.
