It's the beginning of a new year, which means two things: one, people are reflecting on 2021 and thinking back on the highlights of the year; and two, people are looking ahead to the future, trying to figure out what 2022 has in store for us.

Every year, Vogue publishes a list of rising stars heading into the new year - entertainers who have been doing great work for a little while that may be posed to really break out by the time the year is over. And this year, their list includes some representation from Missoula.

Lily Gladstone Was Named One of Vogue's Rising Stars For 2022

On this year's list, Vouge named Lily Gladstone as one of their top rising stars. Gladstone was born in Kalispell and grew up on the Blackfeet Reservation, before graduating from the University of Montana in 2004. In recent years, she's become known for her work with indie filmmaker Kelly Reichardt on films like Certain Women and First Cow, and had a recurring role on the Showtime series Billions.

But in 2022, Gladstone is taking on the biggest role of her career as the female lead of the new Martin Scorsese film Killers of the Flower Moon, opposite huge names like Leonardo DiCaprio, Jesse Plemons, Robert De Niro, John Lithgow, and Brendan Fraser. We reported on her casting in the movie when it was announced back in February.

It's pretty exciting to see someone so closely tied to the Missoula community get such a huge opportunity, and to see them get recognized by Vogue alongside other young talent is very cool. Will you be checking out Killers of the Flower Moon when it comes out this year?
