THERE ARE NO "LAST OF US" SPOILERS IN THIS ARTICLE

HBO's The Last of Us returned with season 2 over the last few Sundays, and it's been a big talking point in my house and circle.

When we were watching last Sunday, I thought to myself, "Why did they pick Jackson Hole, Wyoming to settle?"

Jackson Hole sounds like a tough spot to make a post-apocalyptic home. It's freezing and covered by snow for half of the year.

Wouldn't you rather settle down in a warm climate or some place with easier conditions?

But on the positive side, Jackson doesn't have a huge population, so you wouldn't encounter as many zombies or, in The Last of Us' case, cordyceps as you would in a big city.

Plus, mountains can be used as natural barriers, so it could be safer.

What About The Zombie Apocalypse in Montana?

How about in Montana? Where would you want to settle?

I have some thoughts on this...

You don't want to settle in a populated area, right? So let's eliminate Billings, Missoula, Great Falls, Bozeman, Butte, Helena and Kalispell.

You want some areas to farm and grow food, and some mountain protection couldn't hurt either. Plus, you need a source of clean drinking water.

Having some existing infrastructure, like homes and public buildings, already built would benefit us too.

Eastern Montana gives a lot of flat farming land, but it won't give you the mountainous protection. I'm going to eliminate Eastern Montana for that reason.

Plus, in the chance zombies get me, I'd rather go out looking at mountains instead of prairies and hills.

Ok, I have my choice. The place where I'd settle in Montana in the event of the zombie apocalypse is...

Columbia Falls

Somewhere between Columbia Falls and West Glacier. You have Glacier National Park protecting the North side. There's fresh drinking water in the park. There's farming land near C-Falls and you don't have to worry about a large population.

I think Whitefish is a suitable choice as well.

Let me know your thoughts. Did I get it right with Columbia Falls or are you selecting a different place?
