Lady Griz Poker Fundraiser Fills Up Fast, Missoula
University of Montana Lady Griz basketball coach Robin Selvig loves a good card game. And don't think for one minute he's not just as competitive at cards as he is at basketball!
So, how about it, poker fans? You're invited to participate in the Lady Griz 10th annual Texas Hold 'em Poker Tournament at Paradise Falls in Missoula. The tournament is Saturday, May 7. And while that may seem far away, the tournament usually draws a packed house, so if you want in, it's good to get signed up now!
Last year's event drew over 130 players. Tommy Brown of Missoula claimed the $2,000.00 winner's pot. Brent Nokleby of Missoula won $1,500.00 for finishing second. And former Lady Griz standout Skyla Sisco came in third to claim $1,000.00.
Proceeds from the tournament help fund the basketball program's "non-budgeted" items, like tuition for summer school, fifth-year scholarships and other activities critical to the success of the Lady Griz basketball program.
And there's more ways to be a part of the event than just being a player. You can be a sponsor, donate raffle prizes, etc. To get registered and find out more about sponsorships, you can visit the Grizzly website or call Lady Griz assistant coach Trish Duce at 406-243-5779. I might even play this year, which means you'll have some easy pickin' when it comes to taking my money! DB
