Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On June 25, 2026, Missoula Police Department officers responded to Garden City Medical Center on West Spruce Street after receiving a report that a male driver in a white Toyota Tacoma was struggling to park and yelling that he needed to go into the hospital. Upon arrival, an officer observed the truck positioned halfway into a parking stall with a male driver in the driver’s seat. The driver was later identified as 44-year-old William Marshall.

Two witnesses were standing outside the vehicle, and they reported that Marshall appeared to be intoxicated, had cuts and bruises on his arms, and had been yelling about needing medical attention. One witness stated that the truck was running when she approached, and that she asked Marshall to shut it off and hand over the keys, which he did.

The officer approached Marshall and asked if he was injured. Marshall appeared groggy, spoke with slurred speech, and said that his right shoulder hurt due to recent surgery. The officer detected the odor of alcohol coming from Marshall. When asked for identification, Marshall first handed over a credit card before providing his driver’s license. When medical personnel questioned Marshall about his condition, he complained only of stomach pain.

Another officer arrived and began processing Marshall for suspected DUI. The officer observed an open can of G-Force Voodoo Ranger beer with an alcohol content of 11% in the truck’s center console. He noted that Marshall emitted a strong odor of alcohol, had bloodshot, watery eyes, was drooling, and had mucus running from his nose.

When asked what was happening, Marshall said he was not feeling well. His speech was slurred and difficult to understand. When asked whether he was feeling unwell due to drinking, Marshall nodded yes. He could not say how many drinks he had consumed but confirmed it was more than two.

Marshall declined to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests but agreed to a preliminary breath test, which registered a blood alcohol concentration of 0.407, which is over five times the legal limit. The officer read Marshall the implied consent advisory, and Marshall agreed to a legal blood draw. He was transported to St. Patrick’s Hospital, where a nurse drew his blood at 12:39 PM and sealed the sample for evidence. Marshall was medically cleared and transported to the Missoula County Jail.
