Do you give your loved ones a Christmas list?

Gift-giving is easy for some people and hard for others. Sometimes it depends on the person you're finding a gift for--I have people in my life that I could buy eight things for without thinking too hard about it and others that require weeks of brainstorming.

It's too late this year, but next year I'm thinking about asking for a "Reverse Gift Guide" for the people in my family. That's where they'd tell me the best presents they've ever gotten for Christmas, and then I could use that as a starting point for other gift ideas.

There are plenty of gift guides that will tell you exactly what you should get someone for Christmas, but what about guides that tell you what to stay away from?

We asked on our social media pages, "What is a present you would never buy for a Montanan," and got some clever responses (and a few obvious ones, too).

Recommendations for the outdoors: there are do's and don'ts, but mostly don'ts. If your Montanan is an outdoorsy person, they probably already know exactly which specific gear-thing they want. Unless they give you a link, don't guess. We have some outdoors-related gifts below that you shouldn't even try.

Those Places That Must Not Be Named: gag gifts can be fun, but if you get anything from a few states that are not Montana, you're going to get a dirty look.

Accessories: unless it's a custom belt buckle, you may not have much luck with buying a Montanan an accessory.

Take a look at the things Montanans don't recommend you buy them for Christmas:
