Travel season kicks off this weekend and everyone is saying that record numbers of people will hit the road. But that doesn't mean people will be traveling far. Especially for Montanans, you might only be traveling across the state. If you'll be staying in a hotel, Airbnb, or VRBO, you may want to check for hidden cameras.

A Private Investigator was interviewed by HuffPost and shared that surveillance in public spaces has increased, specifically the use of "hidden cameras in public and private spaces."

A quick survey of other news outlets shows that hidden cameras are an issue or at least one that's being covered frequently. For example, a man in Bismarck pleaded guilty in a hidden camera case.

Perhaps the more concerning part is how easy it is for someone to purchase a small camera. A quick search of Google Shopping shows that Walmart sells a small wireless camera for only $17.96.

Where to Look for Hidden Cameras

As Aaron Bond said in his interview with the HuffPost, "Cameras in public places are used to catch you in compromising positions, so often they are positioned either high or low to get the best viewing angle."

Here are a few places that you might want to check before settling into a vacation rental or hotel room. Not all rooms may have these objects, but it will give you an idea of where they might be.
