Montana Has Never Lost to Utah Tech. Here’s the History
The Montana Grizzlies play the Utah Tech Trailblazers this Saturday afternoon at Washington-Grizzly Stadium at 1 pm. We'll have radio coverage for you beginning at 11 am on Newstalk KGVO with Denny Bedard and me anchoring.
I'll join the Voice of the Griz, Riley Corcoran, in the booth beginning at 12:30 pm.
This is Montana's third all-time meeting with Utah Tech. It's the first meeting with Utah Tech as a Big Sky Conference member, BUT this isn't a conference game.
Weird, I know.
The game was scheduled before the Trailblazers signed on to become a Big Sky Conference team, so they left it on the schedule as a non-conference game.
Montana vs. Utah Tech history
The Grizzlies are 2-0 against Utah Tech all-time. They have one win on the road and one at home.
The last time they met was September 9, 2023, when Montana walloped Utah Tech in St. George by a final score of 43-13. The Griz scored the first 43 points with two rushing touchdowns from Nick Ostmo, two more from Eli Gillman, and a 47-yard punt-return score from Junior Bergen.

Three Grizzly quarterbacks threw passes (Clifton McDowell, Sam Vidlak, and Kris Brown).
The first, and only other, meeting was a 31-14 win in Missoula on October 9, 2021. That was when they were known as Dixie State, and they were transitioning to the FCS level from Division II.

Utah Tech Fun Facts
The Trailblazers are located in St. George, Utah, and play their football at Greater Zion Stadium. The football program originated as a junior college program before making the switch to the NCAA Division II level in 2006. The Trailblazers played Division II football until 2019 and had only three seasons finishing above .500.

The school was founded by John D. Lee and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints missionaries in 1852, known as Dixie State. The school has had several name changes, from Dixie Junior College to Dixie College to Dixie State College of Utah to Dixie State University, and now Utah Tech University.
