The Montana Grizzlies opened the season 1-0 with an anxiety-inducing 28-21 victory at home over Southern Utah.

There is nothing like that first run out onto the field. After months of waiting, the boys of fall are back on the brand new Washington-Grizzly Stadium turf.
Eli Gillman to the house
After quarterback Keali'i Ah Yat threw an interception on the first play of the season, Ah Yat bounced back by throwing an 85-yard screen pass touchdown to Eli Gillman. Gillman would add a rushing touchdown later to tie Lex Hilliard for 2nd most rushing touchdowns all-time in Griz history, and only five behind Chase Reynolds.

Montana Special Teams comes to play
Grizzly special teams proved to be the game changer. The special teams guys blocked two kicks. Southern Utah could've used those points when the game was tied late.

The rain fell hard for a few moments in the second half. A little rain never hurt anyone.
Lekeldrick Bridges puts the Griz up for good
Ah Yat found a wide-open Lekeldrick Bridges for a 53-yard game-winning touchdown. It was Bridges' first collegiate touchdown. What a time for it to come.
Brock Beaner wins it for the Griz
The Grizzlies didn't secure a turnover until the final drive of the game, when Brock Beaner picked off Southern Utah's Will Burns. Beaner was the first Griz to don the newly introduced "Turnover Belt."
Bobby Kennedy wins his first game
Athletic Director Kent Haslam presents Bobby Kennedy with the game ball after his first collegiate win as head coach.
