Open Letter To Griz Fans: Embrace The Suck Of Montana State’s National Championship
Montana State is the national champion for the first time since 1984. The Cats pulled off an incredible overtime win over Illinois State in Nashville, 35-34, with the difference being a blocked extra point in OT.

It was, objectively, as a college football fan, an awesome game. As a Griz fan, it was a tough pill to swallow — no way around it. All I could think about when watching MSU celebrate a Natty is, "There is nothing we can say that will ease the pain of MSU being an absolute wagon over the last couple of seasons."
Griz fans can complain about the vulgarity of Cats fans singing "**** the Grizzlies" to the tune of Mony, Mony, but at the end of the day, their team has beaten ours three straight times and eight out of the last 10 meetings.
We can say we live rent-free in the minds of Cats fans, which has some validity to it, but at the end of the day, their team tied ours for total national championships and now has the more recent title victory.
There is no way around it: This sucks, and we don't have a lot of ammunition to fire back.

Nothing we say right now will take away the Cats' National Championship victory or the recent dominance in the Brawl of the Wild rivalry. Several Griz fans are taking to Twitter to share what they believe needs to be done to get Montana to the promised land. I'm not going to do that. I'm not a smart enough football mind to request changes. I am simply writing my grief away in this article.
I've worked at the University of Montana for three plus years now. I've seen just one win over MSU. Outside of the 2023 win, it's been all Cats, and it hurts.
All I can say is embrace the suck, Griz fans.
