We have all heard the saying "If you don't like the weather in Montana, just wait a minute." It is funny, because it is true. Montana has some pretty drastic fluctuations in weather. I can think of so many examples of times that the weather has flipped on me in a matter of minutes. I can remember elk hunts in November, that started of with below zero temperatures and ended with me stripped down to just a t-shirt. Or how about the time I was attending Evel Knievel Days in Butte in late July and had a snowball fight in flip flops.

In fact, according to Wikipedia

The largest recorded temperature change in one place over a 24-hour period occurred on January 15, 1972 in Loma, Montana, when the temperature rose from −54 to 49 °F (−47.8 to 9.4 °C) . The most dramatic temperature changes occur in North American climates susceptible to Chinook winds.

Spring is when Mother Nature can be the most bi-polar towards us. One minute she sends us sunny skies and mild temperatures. The next she sends us a downpour. Just recently, a woman near Bozeman, filmed a squall blow through her property. The beginning of video shows a mild sunny day, with a huge cloud in the backdrop. That cloud soon sweeps across the ground and inches closer and closer to the person filming. You can hear the wind pickup as the wind chimes begin to ring louder and louder. Soon, the squall of icy cold wind and snow forces the woman to take shelter in her house.
